Session IPA

IPA or India Pale Ale, is a bitter and highly aromatic style of beer. It is one of the most widely experimented craft beers amongst beer makers the world over. IPAs originated in Britain and have been adopted by the American brewer community as the badge of excellence for a craft brewery.
At Canard, we have created a clear, amber-hued IPA that is “sessionable” (lower in alcohol and suitable for drinking over an extended period). The Canard Session IPA is a decidedly hoppy, bitter and crispy pale ale with a balance that is hop-forward, dry, and with a slightly caramel, malty flavour. The hop aromas are strongly new world, emphasizing on citrus, floral, stone fruit and pine resin.
COMPATIBLE GLASSES
Tulip glass is designed with a bulbous body and a slightly flared rim. The wide body allows for the swirling of aromas. And the flared rim assists in the head retention. The Tulip is best for Belgian ales, and aromatic beer styles.

The IPA Glass was designed by Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, and the glassmaker Spiegelau. The IPA Glass has a wide mouth and bowl, on a narrow ridged stem base. This design allows for the beer to retain its temperature, while leading the aromas to the nose. The lasered bottom help release the CO2 in cascading bubbles and the bowl dip provides turbulence for the aroma to become volatile. It is best used for IPAs and hoppy ales.

Chardonnay and especially Oaked Chardonnay glasses, are designed with a larger bowl, this shape better emphasizes creamy textures of full-bodied wines because of the wider mouth. The inward curve also concentrates and channels the more volatile aromas that needs more space to ‘breathe’. It is best used for heavy, full-bodied, higher alcohol beers like Imperial Stout, and Weizenbock.

Snifter glasses are usually used for serving brandy and cognac. The glass is a mix between a goblet, and a wine glass. The Snifter is designed to capture and concentrate aromas in the bowl while allowing room for swirling to release more aromatics. Ideal for high alcohol beers, and aromatic beers like Belgian Ales, and Imperial IPAs.

Teku is a glass designed by two Italian beer experts, Teo Musso and Lorenzo “Kuaska” Dabove (from whom the name “Teku” was derived), the Teku glass is designed to be the best all-rounder glass for any beer style. The long stem helps to keep the beers at optimal temperatures, while the design of the glass is intended to capture and release the beer aromas via the outward curve. Teku is appropriate for a wide variety of styles, but its design really shines especially for sour beers and strongly aromatic beers.
