Kölsch

The name Kölsch comes from Cologne (Köln), a cultural hub located on the Rhine River in western Germany. Today the name is also a beer style that has found its way into the craft beer scene worldwide. Kölsch is a light and refreshing ale-lager hybrid, perfect for the hot, humidity of the tropics.
Dry, crispy, light, subtly aromatic, and oh-so-chuggable, Canard Kölsch is a brilliantly clear pale golden beer, with a balance of malt, fruit, and hop character. Our Kölsch’s first impression might be malty sweet, and yet it finishes on a crisp, rounded palate. It is low in bitterness and residual sweetness. Its high carbonation carries with it the aromas of malt grains and honey flowers, oddly reminiscent of sweet candy.
COMPATIBLE GLASSES
The Stange or the Stangen, is designed for Kölsch beers, it is the same width from base to mouth. The Stange glass is designed to catch and highlight a high concentration of malt and hops aromas. The shape also preserves carbonation well. It’s best for German beers like Kölsch and Altbier.

As champagne makers start to abandon the Champagne Flute and start to really adopt the white wine glass for Champagnes, the champagne wine glasses are designed still with the same brief, that is to focus on bubbles. The champagne wine glass is the perfect medium for anything sparkling. It is best used for very lively styles like sour beers and crispy ales.

Teku is a glass designed by two Italian beer experts, Teo Musso and Lorenzo “Kuaska” Dabove (from whom the name “Teku” was derived), the Teku glass is designed to be the best all-rounder glass for any beer style. The long stem helps to keep the beers at optimal temperatures, while the design of the glass is intended to capture and release the beer aromas via the outward curve. Teku is appropriate for a wide variety of styles, but its design really shines especially for sour beers and strongly aromatic beers.

The Riesling glass is perfect for balancing tha acidity and residual fruit-forward wines. It is designed with a small rim to provide equilibrium on the sweet and sour. Coincidentally, the acidic yeast aroma and flavours, and the sweet fruit esters from Wheat Beers, also becomes balanced in the Riesling Glass. Best used for Witbier, Weissbier, Hefeweizen.

White wine glasses are generally designed to be a smaller bowled glasses. The intention of the design is to preserve floral aromas, maintain cooler temperature, and to express more of the acidic flavour notes. The smaller bowl also delivers more aromas (even at cooler temperatures) due to proximity to the nose. It is best used for easy-drinking, light, blonde beers, like wheat beers and kölsch.
